It looks like a pencil, but it won’t write!

This strange tool, called a retoucheur, was attached to Ötzi’s belt.

The tip of a stag’s antler is sticking out of the wooden shaft. Stag’s antler is a very hard, strong material, which Ötzi used to make the edges of his arrowheads or dagger blade sharp. The retoucheur was probably a very important tool for Ötzi.
