Drinking vessel

Drinking vessel

The Romans were the first people to bring objects made of blown glass to the Alps, mainly little bottles for perfume and ointments.

Drinking vessel

The Romans drank out of ceramic beakers.

The particular shape of this glass is typical of a later period (Late Antiquity). A craftsman melted glass at a high temperature. He blew it into shape with the help of a special pipe.

) Each part of the drinking vessel has a strange name: There’s the foot at the base, the long stem and the bowl which holds the liquid.
